Testimonies...

Well, since d product is newly launched, we are now short in terms of testimonies from those who have tried it..

However, from those 20,000 Taiwanese people that went into d launching of the product, it was reported that 88% of them has confirmed that they do enjoy a better, quality sleep after taking a sachet of the sleeptime.

One of our leaders, Abg Samhan (among d first to try d product) has mentioned that he slept late that night (about 3 a.m), and he was supposed to drive back to Kota bharu (from Kuala lumpur - takes about 6-7 hours driving).. He then tried d "sleeptime" that night for d first time. Tomorrow morning, he woke up at 6 am and after breakfast, he drove back all d way to kota bharu all by himself, without feeling sleepy, or tired, or have any dizziness @ headache, eventhough he only slept for 3 hours that night..

Well, tonight i will try to take it, as now is already 2.04 am, and i'm still here, wide awake updating my blog.. Dont know whether my baby's "night routine wake-up" will affect my 'quality' of sleep or not.. We'll see tomorrow, i guess.. Wow, tomorrow my day is full of activities actually, starting from 8 am until 2 pm.. Hopefully this "sleeptime" will make me fresh and wide awake tomorrow in spite of 4 hours of sleep tonight..

Good nite frens, & wish me luck.. ;)

Updated on 20/05/2011..

Hie all.. Wow! What a busy day today.. And guess what?? Even though I slept at about 2.30 am last night, I did not even felt dizzy or tired when I woke up this morning!! Fuhooo, meaning that this "Sleeptime" is really something.... :)

At first, I still feel a bit sleepy. Well, I'm not really suprised, as usually I went for bed at 10 - 11 pm, but last night I stayed up until 2.30am!! And so my first thought was that, hmm, is this product really works? But then, already I feel confident as usually, if I slept late (about 12 am), I always have headache or feeling dizzy. But not today!!

Then, after I took my bath and having my breakfast, I feel really fresh, like I've slept at my normal time of 10 - 11 pm. Then my busy day started - I have an appointment with a new customer (she's a "Tok Bidan", you know.. :) She's actually having a gastric which has led to ulcer - to which I proposed Alpha Lipid Lifeline). We finished at about 11.15, then I went back and prepared for lunch. Then 12.30 I went to the hospital to visit one of my neighbour that has diabetes - I will propose Alpha Lipid to her later :). I reached home at 2 pm, having lunch, then went to KB for some business proposal from my hubby's friend and we stayed on until 4. Then we went for our kids' art class until 5.

When I reached home at about 5.30, then I realized, OMG, I didn't even feel dizzy or suffer a headache, like I normally did when I lack night sleeps. Wow! This "sleeptime" is really something then!! It should be worthwile then, to share the product with others, as me myself has tried it and feel the goodness in it. You should try it too, at least once, to feel, and understand, what a good, quality sleep means to you.. :)

NZ-made 'Sleep Time' milk a hit in Taiwan

By David Farrier

It is often said a glass of milk before bedtime can help you get to sleep.

A New Zealand biotech company decided to milk that market, and create a sleep-enhancing milk powder called Sleep Time.

They tried it in Taiwan with 20,000 distributors, and it sold out within half an hour of launching.

Eighty-eight percent of those surveyed saying they were getting a better sleep.

"Our scientists were inspired by the effect mothers' milk had on kids, so found certain cows had proteins that enhanced sleep," says Guy Williams.

According to its creators Somnaceutics, specially-selected cows produce milk that contains high level of sleep-enhancing peptides.

The biotech company teamed up with health food company New Image to market the product in Taiwan.
"Sleep deprivation is a big issue there," says Stephen Lyttleton, New Image CEO. "In fact, 22 percent of the population have severe sleep difficulty."

Sold as a sachet that's mixed with water, it went off with a bang.

And what does it taste like? Well, officially, "vanilla and honey", though they may expand into other flavours such as chocolate.

Right now you can only buy Sleep Time overseas, but there are plans to bring it to New Zealand.

The Science of Sleep

Sleep is food for the brain and is as vital as the air we breathe and the food we eat. Healthy sleep keeps us happy, healthy and alert.  Too many of us forget that the lack of adequate, restful slumber has serious consequences – at home, in the workplace and on the highway. Getting enough continuous, quality sleep contributes to how we perform and feel the next day, but also has a huge impact on our overall quality of life. Not only does good quality sleep make us function well during the day but it allows our bodies to rest and recuperate.

Adequacy of sleep is a function of its duration, quality and timing.  We need consolidated, restorative sleep for many functions including:
  • Cognitive, social and physical performance
  • Functioning in a safe, efficient and effective way
  • Emotional enhancement and relating well with others
  • Healthy immune function
  • Learning and memory consolidation
  • Prevention of health problems and optimal health
Duration – the amount of sleep we need differs from person to person, although research suggests that adults need 7-9 hours each night for optimal health and wellbeing. Sleeping more than 9 hours or less than 6 hours per night on a long term basis is associated with a higher death rate. Contrary to common myth, older adults need as much sleep as younger adults, but they often do not have as efficient or good quality sleep.

Quality - the quality of sleep is also imperative to health and functioning. It is important to have adequate amounts of each stage of sleep, and that sleep is uninterrupted and consolidated.

During sleep we experience two alternating states of sleep – NREM sleep and REM sleep.

-   Non-rapid eye movement sleep (NREM) includes 4 stages of sleep:
  • Stage 1 – this is called light sleep and is our initial entry into sleep.
  • Stage 2 – occurs with sleep onset when you become disengaged from the environment, breathing and heart rate are regular and body temperature is decreasing.
  • Stages 3 and 4 – also known as deep sleep, and are the deepest stages of sleep when we experience the most restorative sleep. Muscles are completely relaxed, blood pressure drops and breathing slows. During these stages of sleep, blood supply to the muscles is increased, energy is restored, tissue is repaired and growth hormone production takes place.

Rapid-eye movement or REM sleep occurs increasingly over the latter part of the night and is necessary for providing energy to our brain and our body. During REM our brains are active and dreaming occurs. REM sleep contributes to learning and memory consolidation.
  • NREM sleep accounts for 75% of sleep time.
  • REM sleep accounts for 25% of sleep time.

Timing – sleep quality is improved if we sleep in synch with our body clock.  This means that the best time to sleep is during the night when our biological rhythm is set to sleep. Sleep is regulated by two body systems – the sleep/wake restorative process, and the circadian biological clock.

  • Sleep/wake restorative processoccurs naturally in response to how long we are awake; the longer we are awake, the stronger the drive to sleep.
  • Circadian body clock – this clock controls the timing of sleep and wakefulness during the day-night cycle. Timing is regulated by the circadian (biological) clock that is located in our brain. This part of the brain is influenced by light so that we naturally tend to get sleepy during the night when it is dark, and are active during the day when it is light. This clock runs on a 24-hour cycle.
Summary:
We all need sleep of optimal duration, quality and timing if we hope to be at our best the next day as well as greater overall health and wellness. There are a huge number of factors that can negatively impact the duration, quality and timing of sleep. Therefore it is important to take action to ensure we get the best, most natural sleep possible.

The Story of Sleep TimeTM

Searching for a natural way to support healthy sleep, our founding scientist was inspired by the peaceful, calming feeling experienced after drinking milk.

His research revealed that the milk from certain cows had greater calming properties than other milk, believed to be associated with high levels of special proteins. A simple DNA test enables these cows to be separated from others.

Recognising the importance of this breakthrough, New Image identified herds of these select cows. Following collection, the milk undergoes a patented process to further enhance its sleep benefits. The level of lactose - milks natural sugar, is also reduced to help with those that may have some sensitivity to lactose.

This special milk and the unique process results in a Unique Protein ProfileTM that has been clinically tested and demonstrated a significant improvement in sleep patterns, including increased REM sleep.

The pure Sleep TimeTM milk powder is combined with a premium blend of Magnesium, Alpha Lipid®, Vitamin D and flavours and hermetically sealed in individual serve sachets. Enjoyed warm or cold, it is an ideal bedtime drink.
